Ashley loves science and Mr. Pugmire has been fun to do science experiments with them. Last week she came home and placed an egg in a glass of vinegar. We left it overnight and she took it to school the next day. The class watched as they bounced the egg outside and it splattered after a couple of bounces. The vinegar has a reaction with the calcium in the egg shell. The shell becomes soft and can be wiped off with your fingers. The other girls wanted to see what happened, so we did the experiment at home. We placed a brown egg and white egg in a glass of vinegar for two days. Today we bounced the eggs on the side of the driveway. The egg on the left was the brown shell, the right was white, but we rubbed off the whole shell. The yellow yolk is very visible, pretty cool!
Alyssa getting ready to bounce the egg, it then rolled off to the side and cracked on the rocks. The second egg bounced a few times, and then cracked.
Kaylynn is picking up the thin shell and Ashley was grossed out that she would touch it.
